Day 0. Banff.

Driving through Northern Idaho into the magnificent Canadian Rockies truly marked the beginning of this adventure as it brought the emotions of the desired new reality into focus and to the forefront. My mind was racing just as fast as our camper van, White Lightning (WL), as I sat behind the Captain of our ship as she kept us headed towards what will be the official start point of my time on the GDMBR.

Anxious energy coupled with the fear of the unknown has become ever present causing a strong desire for me to just go ahead and get this show on the road already. I have thought about and prepared for this adventure daily for nine months now. Tomorrow will be game day and hopefully the fruits of my labor will be plentiful and super delicious as I make my way down the spine of this vast continent.

Banff Views.

I can make a couple declarations before I even start this adventure early tomorrow morning. The first one is this will simply be the hardest and most challenging journey that I have ever undertaken both physically and mentally. The second declaration, more of a promise, is that I will do my absolute best to keep moving forward each day and accept whatever challenges are placed before me while taking the time to enjoy all the gifts that are presented throughout. Those declarations will hopefully keep me humble and as unassuming as possible throughout the entirety of my journey.

As I pedal off from Banff tomorrow remember; when it is hot, I am hot, when it is cold, I am cold, when it is raining or even sometimes possibly snowing, I am wet. Just like in life, everything is temporary and change is inevitable so I will keep on keeping on! I chose to be out there and that is why I have to embrace it all one hundred percent all day everyday. Well enough talking, almost time to make those small circles with my feet again!

Admin: A quick reminder to the hand full of followers that check on my progress daily, I may not have connectivity during some days and unlike last summer, my blog may not be updated daily. I have satellite communications with Erin, so life is good and no need to worry.

I woke up this morning in MM at a campsite at Lost Lake (no cell service). It was light out so I figured you were on your way down the Continental Divide on War Dog. So glad to see your Zero Day post when we got home. With your attitude and drive you’ll have a great ride. Really looking forward to your blog reports and pictures. Randy
