I slept so good in the Alpaca Inn and really could have laid in bed for another hour. Rob was finishing packing up when I came out ready to get the day started and we departed promptly. Rob was a Navy Air Traffic Controller and is now a middle school teacher.

Unfortunately, after about a mile and a half down the road, I realized I forgot my towel and washing mit on the clothes line and had to turn back to grab them. Three extra miles were successfully stored in the bank, I guess. At least I got to say bye to the Llama Ranch twice this morning.

Today was the first morning I had to put on gloves due to the temperatures being a little low. It was also the first time I had to wipe off the dew on War Dog before saddling up. The route offered some more climbing pretty early in the route. The road was cut into the side of the mountain during some of the climbing and this gave an unique perspective of the forest floor above.

Once the climbing subsided and I came out of the woods the views were amazing and the cattle were plentiful. I only had to wait a couple of times for the cows to move out of the way.

I crossed some railroad tracks today and came across the mechanism below. Anyone have any idea what it is used for?

Today was a great day for seeing birds as I saw a couple Killdeer, a Great Blue Heron and some Red-winged Blackbirds. The Killdeers like to wait for me to get close and then fly low on the trail and land in front of me and wait for me to get close to do it all again. This usually last for a while and is a nice game to play.
Today would be a shorter day as the destination was Helena and it would be time to restock the food supplies, do some laundry and sleep at a Super 8. I am clearly living the good life people.
