After a great sleep in the security of the cabin, I started really early this morning because I wanted to see the Grand Tetons sitting off in the distance at sunrise. It was an amazing site to see in the still of the morning.

It was not long at all before I found myself in Wyoming with Idaho in the rearview mirror. I was only in Idaho for about 75 miles and it was just as beautiful as to be expected. The views of the Warm River yesterday were definitely the highlight of my experience in Idaho. My visit was short and truly sweet, like I like my potatoes. I do have one issue with Idaho and that is the fact that my streak of 15 straight days of seeing a deer, elk or pronghorn ended yesterday and I did not see one of these creatures in Idaho at all. Ironically, within a half a mile of being in Wyoming this morning the streak started again.

Two-thirds of the day was spent on gravel in the woods leading me to the main road between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The time in the woods was amazing and it was interesting to start seeing more hikers out and about the closer I came to said main road.

I soon made it to the main stretch of road and turned south towards the Grand Teton National Park. The traffic was busy as one can imagine for a late summer morning with people rushing to their day’s activities. Hopefully, tomorrow morning I can beat the traffic and escape back into the woods.

There is something magical about the views of the Grand Tetons sitting behind Jackson Lake. In my opinion, it is one of the best views I have ever been fortunate enough to have seen in my lifetime.

Well, I got here before lunch and I think now that the tent site is set up that I will go for a walkabout and enjoy the surroundings. Good Times!
