I throughly enjoyed my time with Gary and his wife the last couple of days as they were amazing hosts. We had the chance to get some well overdue laundry done and we definitely ate like kings. Gary is a highly intelligent human that has some amazing projects that he is currently working on these days, impressive to say the least. Our visit with them went way too quickly and I truly hope to see them again in the future.
Gary was instrumental in making the morning ride as easy as possible when he pointed out the Washington and Old Dominion Trail as being less than two miles from his house. We decided to definitely take this option instead of having to navigate more using the urban route we took to his house.
This trail system took us all the way to the Francis Scott Bridge where we crossed the Potomac River for the last time with a great nighttime view of the Washington Monument. Once over the bridge, we joined the Capital Crescent Trail and soon found ourselves in Maryland.

Virginia was as beautiful as I remembered and it was a joy to ride through. Thanks Virginia. My time in Maryland will be short and my first impression is that this state is quite beautiful with rolling terrain and beautiful farmland.

Eventually, we found ourselves on the Rock Creek Trail as we made our way further north in Maryland. It was a great morning as we enjoyed over thirty miles of these trails before turning onto roads with beautiful farmland on both sides. Once on these roads, I pushed on ahead.

Today was the first day that it has not been hot. Seventy degrees felt absolutely wonderful and the breeze made it even that much better. Folker and I have linked back up now and after a suggestion from a local, we are going to go find a nice wooded area next to the reservoir to sleep tonight.
