It was a pleasant last three miles on the rail trail this morning before riding through the town of York. The weather has been cooler the last couple of days allowing us to start a little later and closer to sunrise.

Before getting out of York, I was hoping to find a service station that may have some toothpaste. Gotta keep my teeth super clean out here on the road. What is the chances that the only toothpaste found at my stop was exactly the one I use, bingo baby! Let’s get some breakfast also.

This morning was absolutely stunning as far as the views. The country I would be riding through today would knock my socks clean off my feet. I am currently barefooted.

I really enjoyed riding through Lancaster as it means I am getting into a dear friend of mine neck of the woods. Ron is another one of my favorite humans on the planet and now I understand completely why he spends so much of his time riding his bike. How lucky is he?

Leaving Lancaster, I quickly found myself in Amish Country. The shoulders through the small towns are super large to allow the horse and buggies to move to and fro easily. I cannot express with words or with my pictures the beauty of it all.

I chose not to try and capture any of the Amish families riding by in their traditional Amish buggies out of respect. I can tell you it was an awesome experience to see these families on their way to church this morning. Riding by any Amish church and the parking lot is full of buggies and bicycles.

There are also many Mennonites in this area and their church parking lots are full of automobiles. These two groups seem to be closely related in their religious beliefs, but perhaps one is more accepting of modern technology.
I do not think I have ever seen farms as nicely kept up as those seen today. I truly felt like I was in a foreign country for most of the morning. Breathtaking. I literally had my mouth wide open sometimes in amazement of what they have done with this beautiful land.
After a quick lunch stop in Morgantown, I climbed the hill to the beautiful campsite. Today was another wonderful day of cycling.
