Day 38. Lone Oak Campsites to Union.

It was nice to see the family yesterday and we had a great time relaxing and catching up at the campsite. Caroline played hard at the playground and big brother even took her over to the big playground in the sky. The kids and I enjoyed the pool for a little bit before dinner and let’s just say the water was not Florida warm.

We all enjoyed a nice spaghetti dinner thanks to Erin. This gave Folker and me some much needed carbohydrates for today’s ride through Connecticut. They would be burned quickly since we had some nice Appalachian Mountains surrounding the campground.

Folker took off about an hour before me this morning. The rain had started after midnight and lightened up a little to enable me to get on the road as dry as I would be all day.

After about ten minutes down the road the rain increased and continued to be a force of nature for the entire day of riding. There are two types of days, sunny and rainy. Today was definitely one of them.

The only complaint I have about rain is that it is hard to take pictures and use my phone for any navigation. The iPhone and my wrinkled hands do not work well together.

New England Views.

New England is going to be amazing to ride through if it continues to be like today. The mountains, rivers, and beautiful small towns are sensational. It feels good to get some nice steep climbing in and I am assuming this will continue all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine.

Yard Art.
Bongo, Been A While.

When I caught Folker we were climbing a hill and we did not chat long at all. I made my way to our destination without many breaks today. We had decided yesterday on a cheap motel tonight and as the rain never stopped it became a great decision the more and more I thought about it.

Wet Roads.

It was hard to leave the family this morning, but I will see them next Monday in Bar Harbor, Maine. Where does the time go?

  1. Sorry for the wet. Smart to hunker down inside tonight. Only three more states….impressive. Randy
