Folker met me after I walked for a little bit in the center of Cape Neddick last night for a nice happy hour that turned into a delicious dinner. We enjoyed a few beers and the ahi sandwich was absolutely ridiculously delicious. I may have gotten the most sleep of the entire trip after that meeting engagement.

We decided to push on through Portland and stay in a campsite well to the north of the city today. We took off early this morning and were able to escape from the campground because we were given special gate opening instructions yesterday by the kind lady at the campsite, lucky us. We enjoyed our quick stay, but it was time to head north.

The route today offered some amazing views of the Maine coastline. There is something definitely special about this part of the country. I am so glad I have had the opportunity to have seen so much of New England.

The opportunities to see wildlife in the early mornings is so worth the admission price of waking up and starting in the dark. I once again saw numerous deers and the last few days I have seen many wild turkeys. Today, a little family of turkeys blocked the road as they were making their way to wherever they needed to be. I slow pedaled behind them until they safely made their turn. I love the early mornings.

I did get my gravel fix with a short section of a gravel trail this morning. This also offered some great bird viewing along the way.

I have seen several various cycling route markers today and cyclists on any of these routes should consider themselves extremely lucky to have the opportunity to ride in such a beautiful area. I soon found myself entering Portland as I rode on my route.

Once in Portland, I made my way to the public library to take advantage of some free WiFi. I sat outside the large building enjoying this benefit since it was not going to open for another hour. The restaurant I was given as a recommendation by someone weeks ago was super busy and the line looked way too long for a sweaty cyclist to wait around.

I made my way out of Portland via a waterfront trail. Leaving Portland, I found myself on nice roads with large shoulders and I was in my grove. It felt nice to push it a little bit and enjoy the rolling terrain. The park we are staying at tonight is on the waterfront and absolutely beautiful. Lucky us.
