After the long day, I just could not get the food to go down last night. So, with the to go box on the night stand, I wolfed down the grilled chicken breast and then the bread from the sandwich at 0100. I then washed it down with a Ginger Ale to be further washed down with a vanilla yogurt. Back to sleep as I was sleeping in today.

I was ready for breakfast at 0700 and destroyed some French toast. Things were definitely looking up as I also replenished my three Heath bars. Two of those came in handy during the ride today.

Today would be a short day as far as mileage with some nice climbing to get me up to the rim road of Crater Lake. Crater Lake is definitely one of the natural crown jewels of our State. I would be riding the West Rim on my way to the campground. Too easy.

Before getting to the entrance of the park, I encountered two PCT hikers giving a portion of the route a good effort. I tossed them a Heath bar and they were very appreciative.

The 12 mile climb to the rim was easier than what I remembered, maybe the rest breaks I have learned to enjoy are helpful after all. The views on the way up are great, but once on top the views get taken to another level.

At this viewpoint, I chatted up a couple and come to find out their son lives in Rawlins, Wyoming. I have been there twice on two separate cycling adventures. I told them they had to try that Thai Restaurant they have as it is super delicious.

Once on the rim, I see two more hikers on the PCT. Snow and Pitch Perfect have been on the trail Northbound from Mexico for well over three months. They definitely appreciated the Heath Bar I gave them. Snow is from Sinclair, Wyoming which is just a few miles away from Rawlins and I road through there after passing through Rawlins on one of my cycling adventures. Go figure. Pitch Perfect is from the Evergreen State, Washington. Great people and so glad our paths crossed.

Well, I am at the Rim Village relaxing and about to head down to the campground. I will not have any phone service, so I will update this post soon with the map. No worries!
